What are collective nouns and how are they used?
Collective nouns are used to describe a group of objects or animals thinking or moving the same way.
For example, you may see a few bees in your garden: One flying over the garden, one sitting on a flower and the other is chasing your brother. This is just three bees.
If those bees are chasing your brother at the same time, he is facing a swarm of bees. Look out!
Pod of whales
Whales are mammals and not fish as some think. This means they are warm blooded and breath air, just like humans.
Whales live in groups called pods. This is like a family, however they don't have to be blood related to belong to a pod. Whales live and travel in pods for protection but the bond between a mother and her calf is the strongest.
