Magic tricks are a fun way to improve your child's cognitive thinking. Try teaching them this sneaky counting trick to play on unsuspecting friends and relatives.

The effect:

By counting in a certain way, you can convince your friends that you have eleven fingers.

The trick:

Using your right forefinger to point with, touch each finger of your left hand, counting out loud: "One, two, three, four, five."

Then with your left forefinger, count the fingers on your right hand: "Six, seven, eight, nine, ten."

Say: "That's funny, I'm sure I had eleven fingers before. Let me try again."

This time count backwards, pointing to the fingers of the left hand: "Ten, nine, eight, seven, six…"

Hold up your left hand and say: "Six fingers on this hand…"

Then hold up your right hand and say: "Five fingers on this hand. Five plus six makes eleven!"
