Activity:

Watch the below video to show you how to make a photo puzzle.

Use some large photos if you have them, or alternatively enlarge some on a photocopier, or just print them off your computer from your digital collection. Children will love creating a puzzle of their face, their whole body or their family. Now that photos are ready instantly on your computer and printer, you could also take some especially for the purpose of puzzle-making.

Here are some photo suggestions:

  • Your child’s face
  • Your child’s body
  • Her bedroom
  • A photo of the whole family
  • A photo of the front of your house

Once you have your photos, use craft glue to paste them onto a piece of cardboard. When the glue is dry cover the picture with contact adhesive.

Use scissors to cut the puzzle into large pieces. Start with four pieces for young children and as they get the hang of the puzzle, cut the pieces smaller to increase the challenge.

Hints and tips:

You could take photos of your friends’ children and make personalised puzzles as fun, cheap Christmas or birthday gifts.
