Make rain

Science experiments are so much fun for kids and so easy to do in your own home. This experiment will have you making rain inside, much to the delight of your kids.

What you need:

  • saucepan
  • water
  • ice cubes
  • oven mitt
  • adult assistance

Number of players:
1+

Activity:

Ask an adult to boil some water in a saucepan.

Using oven mitts to protect your hands, hold a tray of ice above the steam.

Drops will begin to fall like rain from the tray!

Why?

The cold surface of the ice-cube tray cool the steam from the boiling water, changing it back into water in the form of rain drops.
