Wriggly toilet roll snake

Wriggly toilet roll snake

Raid the recycling bin for toilet rolls and you'll have an afternoon of craft activities ready to go. Start with this wriggly wiggly toilet roll snake. Your toddler will love playing with his new toy.

What you need:

  • 3 x empty toilet rolls
  • 5 x paperclips
  • 2 x googly craft eyes
  • paint
  • scissors
  • glue
  • string

Number of players:
1

Activity:

Paint the toilet rolls in your chosen snake pattern. Remember you will be cutting each one in half, so do a pattern that will work when it's cut in half.

Cut each roll in half.

Assemble your snake body.  Now use the hole punch to punch a hole in the top and bottom edge of each half tube. (Remember you won't need a hole in each end of the snake.)

Use the paperclips to link the snake's body together.

Glue the snake's eyes on.

Attach a string to his head so you can pull your snake along. Watch him wiggle.

  • If you have hygiene concerns regarding the use of making crafts from toilet paper rolls, you can cut a paper towel roll or gift wrap tube to use instead, or roll your own tube using card stock.
