How important is calcium in Childhood?

Just about every parent knows that children require calcium to build strong bones and teeth. Calcium is one of the most abundant minerals in the human body; bones and teeth contain 99% of the calcium in the body while the remaining 1% is distributed in other areas.

By the time your child reached age 17, almost 90% of their adult bone mass will already have been established. For this reason, it’s very important that your child gets enough calcium on a daily basis.

It is during childhood that a child’s body is most capable of absorbing calcium. But the fact is, most children and teenagers aren’t getting the calcium they need to build peak bone mass. If the body does not get enough calcium from food or supplements, it will take it from the bones, which can cause calcium deficiency.

Although it would be great if children could get the calcium they need through a calcium-rich diet, often it is not possible, either due to fussy eating, a restricted diet, or other circumstances. Children who drink soda, energy or caffeinated drinks absorb even less calcium because these substances may interfere with the way the body absorbs and uses calcium. But calcium is one nutrient kids cannot afford to skip.  Supplementation can help.

You can support your child’s healthy bone development with ChildLife® Liquid Calcium with Magnesium.

I would love to try this, as a mother of a busy 8 year old who’s always on the go I feel that she would benefit from an extra dose of vitamins in her day

  3. helibabi 29/03/2018 at 3:49 pm

My son is 11 months so once we switch to cows milk for some food prep I would still like to know he is getting enough calcium vs the calcium I know he has been getting from my milk. Would love to try this out.

I would love to try this for my almost 9 month old boy. He is slowing starting to wean off his bottles and eating more food but it’s always a worry to know if he is still getting enough calcium through his food so this would definitely be helpful

  5. EmmaV 29/03/2018 at 3:15 pm

  6. Mummyoftwo 29/03/2018 at 3:06 pm

Yes please I’d really love to trial this for my 1 year old son, as I’m always wandering if he is getting enough calcium in his diet and I also have a super fussy 4 year old son that won’t eat many dairy products or vegetables. So this would be really handy to try out with my two boys.

Hi my daughter is coming up 8 and I have struggled on a daily basis with her eczema. My daughter doesn’t have a lot of calcium based products in her diet because it flares up her eczema. She is a fussy eater so I have her on probiotics and vitamins just to help with her dietary in take of vegetables. I haven’t been able to find a supplement for calcium and have been worried about how much she actually lacks. It would be an amazing opportunity to try something to up her intake of calcium. This product sounds like something that I would continue buying.

Would love to try this on my daughter as she wont drink milk or yoghurt. She definately needs calcium.

What an awesome product. I’d love to trail this on my 6 year old Addison. She was born at 26 weeks. Tube fed for 2 years.. and we still have issues around food. She almost eats nothing. When she first started walking around 18m she broke her ankle as it kept rolling. She’s super tiny and her bones are compromised from ‘ll the drugs she had when she was little. She’s lucky to not have broken another bone now that she’s at school and runs all over the show. This would help me with peace of mind that when she does fall.. this has her back in terms of bone strength and general calcium related issues. Thank you for the opportunity.

Hi there, I would really like to be considered for this amazing trial for my 3 children. Its been a constant worry of mine that they don’t get enough calcium in their diets. I have tried the calcium pills for them on and off to try to
help suppliment them. I fear that they dont get enough in their natural diets. Milk is so expensive to buy in for
a big family so I rashion it out! They do eat cheese etc, but is it enough? This would be awesome to try and if they all like it then definately a winner! Thanks for the opportunity.

My 8-year-old has a dairy allergy (not just lactose) so we must stay away from all dairy. SO I’m always worried that he is low on calcium with only being able to have milk alternatives.
He also does karate 2-3 times a week and does complain about sore legs & I believe he is cramping at night in his sleep – his description gives me this inkling. He has tried various other calcium supplements so I would love for him to trial. Plus he’ll tell me if it’s nice or not hahaha

I would love to try this on my 3 children. I’m all about giving them supplements that are vital to support growth and development. Would love to try with the added benifit of the calming in the magnesium to hopefully make settling for bedtime a bit easier as my daughter has trouble switching off and falling asleep. Thanks for considering us!!

  15. zackandemiliasmummy 29/03/2018 at 1:58 pm

Yes please! I have an almost 9 month old and am forever worrying about her getting enough calcium in her diet now she is on solids and less milk! This would be amazing to try for her.

Thank you for the chance, this looks like a great product that I will definitely have to look more into for them both!

    Hi guys,
I am absolutely DESPERATE to do this trail. My beautiful little girl is 22 months and has struggled to thrive, she stopped growing at 36 weeks and has been a little bean ever since. We have had to cut out cows milk products due to a casein protein intollernce. She is still breastfeeding and this sounds like the product was designed for her. I would be forever grateful to trail this product as we have just started looking at supplements for her!

  20. samara 28/03/2018 at 9:09 pm

Would love to try this for master 9 months – he is right into food but I worry about the variety of nutrients he gets eating finger food. This is such a critical stage and I would love to have something that could help out.

  21. Taniamc4 28/03/2018 at 8:17 pm

  22. Sexcpinkplayboy 28/03/2018 at 8:02 pm

I would love to try this for my 11 month old son we have recently found out he is lactose intollerant and have battled for so long before finding this out. There are so many things he can not have so this would be ideal for us to try

  23. TracyWilliams 28/03/2018 at 7:39 pm

This would be perfect for my son who is 8 months old. He has been on NeoCate formula since 10 weeks old due to dairy allergies. This would be a perfect trial for him as it does not contain any milk products. It would make me feel good as I know he is getting that little extra that he may be lacking in. And it could also help improve his sleep at night time!

  24. ytsrik 27/03/2018 at 7:51 pm

My girl is 16 months old and loves mandarins so this would be a great way to get more calcium into her to build up bone density.

  25. KellyCarr 27/03/2018 at 12:54 pm

i would love to be considered for this my 19 month old still stuffers with tummy troubles especially at night, his tummy wakes him up quite frequently in pain which then leads to a grumpy little man the following day as his sleep is so disrupted. Everything we have tried hasn’t worked for him so fingers crossed this product will 🤞🏽

Hello Team, I would really like to be considered for this amazing product trial as I have been looking for such supplement these days for my 19 months old boy. I am planning to stop breast milk and trying these days to put him to cow’s milk but he is refusing that. I am worried for how I will give him sufficient calcium intake other than food that I can prepare with milk if he does not take the cow’s milk. I think I know the solution to my problem by reading this article for ChildLife Liquid Calcium and I can give this to my 6 years old boy too who is fussy in drinking milk. I understand it is not a substitute for milk but can help boy absorb the desired amount of calcium. Thanks.
