April Fools’ Day: make joke sauce bottles

April Fools' Day is a fun time to play some harmless pranks and practical jokes with your kids. This fake sauce bottle idea will fool your prankee into thinking they're being squirted with tomato sauce!

What you need:

• an empty squeezy sauce bottle
• a piece of red wool
• a 1cm diameter bead
• scissors
• a metal skewer

First you need to pierce a hole in the top of the squeezy lid. The easiest way to do it is to heat a metal skewer on a gas hob stove then push it through the top of the bottle's squeezy lid.

Now tie a bead to one end of the red wool (this stops it shooting all the way out when you squeeze the bottle)

Thread the other end through the squeezy bottle lid.

Tie a small knot to stop it falling back in.

Put the lid on.

Give it a hard, sharp squeeze. The red wool will shoot out and give your 'victim' the fright of their lives as they think they're about to be squirted with tomato sauce.
