What you need:

  • Poster paper
  • Pencil
  • Glue
  • Paint

Activity:

Draw a design onto the paper using a lead pencil.

Use the glue straight from the bottle and fill in the parts of the design with glue that you want to stay the colour of the paper.

Once the glue is dry, paint the paper in various colours.

Allow to dry.

Notes:

  • This easy activity shows kids the principles of batik – protecting an area (in this instance with glue) before colouring the whole with dye or paint.
