Halloween ghosts

Woooo… floaty, shimmery mini ghosts are just the thing to add a touch of spook to your home for Halloween.

What you need:

  • a balloon – we used a water balloon
  • plastic cup
  • fabric stiffener
  • craft glue
  • wiggle eyes
  • a needle or pin
  • scissors
  • glitter
  • fishing line
  • thin muslin or gauze
  • a bowl

Activity:

Step 1. Gather your materials.

Step 2. Blow up the balloon to the size of ghost you’re after. Place the bottom (with the tie) into a cup so the top rests above the rim of the cup. This is the ghost’s head so let it sit a fair way above the cup for the best look.

Step 3. Cut your fabric into a rough circle big enough to drape over the balloon like a ghost.

Step 4. Following the product instructions, make up your fabric stiffener in a large bowl. Soak the fabric in the stiffener.

Step 5. Drape the fabric over the balloon and adjust the bottom so it hangs nicely and isn’t all bunched up.

Step 6. Sprinkle some glitter over the top of your ghost for a little sparkle. Leave to dry.

Step 7. Use your glue to attach the wiggle eyes to your ghost. Leave to dry.

Step 8. Pop the balloon with your needle – it will shrivel up and you can peel it out, leaving its shape in the fabric. Thread the fishing wire     through the top of the ghost and hang as desired.

TIP: You could leave the eyes until you’ve popped the balloon if you’re worried about the eyes not sticking properly to the fabric.
