Swinging bucket experiment
Science experiments are not only educational, they’re loads of fun as well! Kids will be amazed watching the bucket spinning around in this experiment without the ball falling out!
What you need:
- rope (60cm)
- bucket
- rubber ball
Number of players:
1+
Activity:
Tie the rope tightly to the handle of the bucket.
Put the ball in the bucket.
Go outside where there is no risk of you hitting anything (or anyone!).
Hold the bucket by the rope.
Swing the bucket in circles like a Ferris wheel as fast as you can.
The ball will stay in the bucket because the centrifugal force created by the rotating action is equal to, or greater than, the force of gravity.
This keeps the ball from falling out of the bucket.
