Have fun in the summer sun with Banana Boat
Kiwis are very aware of the harmful effects of the sun but recent research* shows that we aren’t that great at keeping up with our sun smart routines. Do you remember to reapply sunscreen after two hours in the sun? Or after swimming? The research revealed that in the past 12 months 35% of Kiwi kids have been sunburnt and parents admitted that forgetting or finding it too time consuming was their main reasons for not applying or reapplying sunscreen to their kids.
How much? As a guide, each application requires 7 teaspoons of product – 1 per limb, 1 for your front, 1 for your back and one for your face, neck and ears
How often? Reapply at least every two hours or more often after swimming, sweating or towelling off – make it simple for yourself by setting a timer on your phone
“Reapplying sunscreen at the right time is really important, but less than a third of Kiwis are reapplying every two hours according to the research, putting families at risk of sun damage. It’s also very important to remember to reapply after swimming, perspiring or towelling off.” (Associate Professor Rosemary Nixon, Consultant Dermatologist).

Being sun safe is very important for our family. I always have a sunblock handy in the house, in the car, and in my bag. Sometimes we do neglect to reapply after the 2 hour mark especially if we’re out and about but this is always a good reminder. I am a believer of wearing hats for all of us as we have them handy near our front door so it’s easy to grab before heading out. Would love to try this as the roll-on idea might be easier to use on a wriggly toddler. He always says “no block” and tries to avoid me.
The red heads are coming to visit Grandma and Grandpa! And living at the beach we will be slapping on the sunscreen-. With the strength and ease of applying Banana Boat it looks to be a winner. For all of us–including that red-head Grandpa.
I would love to consider this amazing product as a gift for my little princess, so she can use while going for cycling .
thanks
Our family would love to try this product. My 5 year old and 6 month old have fair skin so it is very important to me that they are protected as much as possible. My 5 year old loves being outdoors though so sunscreen is key! As much as we encourage the shade it’s impossible when the pool is calling him!! Onesies aren’t that practical in the summer heat so shorts, singlets and a great sunscreen are just the ticket!
now days i generally like to use the cancer society KIDS PURE SPF50 because it’s low irritant and of cause it’s content has partially been made from natural plants and mineral extracts and it also has aloe vera and vitamin E.
I have tested out many different sun screen lotions e.g neutrogena, Aloe up etc but none thus far have been as good and/effective.Both of my kids spend majority of their time playing in the out doors whether it been at school or family weekends spent out at the beach I always like to ensure my kids are protected as best as possible.
Firstly thank you for the opportunity to trial these Banana Boat products. I try to keep my family sun safe by ensuring they slip slop slap and wrap. Trying to keep out of the direct midday sun and providing shade where possible including keeping several sun umbrellas in the car for trips to the park/beach etc. I would love to try these products out on my family please
We have just had both children have a reaction to our ‘normal’ sunblock that we have been using for years – so now we are in the process of trialling sunblocks to find one that perfect for our children. we would really love to try Banana Boat <3
We normally use Nivea sunscreen but after seeing it failed the consumer tested we would love to try something else, i sunscreen my boys every day before school/kindy and also multiple times throughout the day when they are home, they never leave the house without their sunhat even if we are going to the shopping mall it is just part of the routine for leaving the house
Some great reminders above about how to stay sun safe! Whenever our kids are outside in the sun we always try to enforce a ‘no hat, no play’ rule in our family. Our school has the same rule, which does help. When swimming we also always make them cover up in rash vests, as the less skin exposed to the sun the better. I like the idea of a non-greasy sunblock, as my partner absolutely hates the feel of greasy sunblock on his skin and especially his hands after putting it on the kids (so its usually always my job!). It would be nice to also not look like you have been basted in shiny oil after applying sunblock too! This summer is shaping up to be a good one, so we would absolutely love to trial the Banana Boat Dry Balance on our fair-skinned family.
Sunscreen and a hat every day. We spend a lot of time outdoors so this would be great to trial. I love the roll-on idea as it’s so much easier to apply on wriggly kids!
I always make sure my girls have sunscreen and sun hat on when we go out. My older girl sweating a lot while play. Her hair always stuck on her face while she has hat on, so this dry one would be good to try. The roller on sounds really handy to use on the go. Would love to try them out with my girls!
I’m a fan of Banana Boat sunscreen but haven’t tried these two varieties yet. The roll on looks great and would be a handy addition to the nappy bag as you’d always have it on you for those unexpected times when you end up in the sun, or forget to pack your sunscreen. Would be very keen to trial these.
Be great to trial these products. We keep sun smart by staying in the shade as much as possible. Wearing sunhats and sunglasses and applying SPF 50+ Sunblock every 2 hours between 9-5pm during summer months.
We are pale here so it’s constant sunscreen reapplication, hats, sun glasses and covering up in rash shirts in the water.
Would love to try this out! With a family of 6 sunblock is an expensive purchase trying to find the right one that works for us all, with the youngest being only 4 months we haven’t tried any on her skin yet so would love to try the baby one on her, and the dry one on her big brothers ! Thanks
Yes please I would love this try these. My eldest has gotten a rash which I think was caused by sunblock. I need to find one that doesn’t do that
We use banana boat alot and have loved the products we would be really happy to try the new product
Very intrigued about the dry balance that can be achieved.
I always model wearing a hat with my one year old daughter and enforce the ‘no hat, no play’ rule. She grabs her hat if she wants to go outside now!
We try to stay out of the sun from 11-2 and use sunscreen in the midday/afternoon sun if we are out and about.
I’d love to trial this, I have found roll on to be so easy for toddler application!
I’d love to try this. We go through A LOT of sunscreen but also try to stay in the shade as much as possible
Love to trial these. Myself and my children are very fair so we are always looking for new options to keep the fun off our skin
We would absolutely love to trial these. Every Summer I’m really cautious of the sun and keeping my kids sun safe. Melanoma runs in my husbands side so I’m always applying sunscreen on my sons. I would love to try these out as we quite enjoy this range for our kids.
I keep my family sun safe by always using sunscreen, applying it before going out in the sun, wearing hats, getting out of the sun and into the shade when possible and reapplying sunscreen after swimming
would love to try the banana boat sunscreen and so would my 1 year old daughter!
I keep them out of the sun as much as possible, no bare shoulders. And hats must be worn in the sun
I keep my family sun safe by them wearing either a wet suit at the beach or a sun smart vest, but always spreading suncream on their face, arms and legs. Mostly they wear a hat when out in the sunshine which covers their face, but still the reflection on the water doubles the sunlight so suncream needs to be regularly put on.
It is hard being a Mum and putting suncream on as the children wriggle and just want to play, but with the right attitude and regularly put on they do become sun smart kids. I’d love to try the Banana Boat suncream especially the roll on as I’ve never tried this sort.
I would love to trial this product on my 3yr old always searching for a good sunblock for him
My daughter has really sensitive skin we would love to try this for a couple of reasons
1. to see if its good with little skin
2. to see if the rumors about banana boat are false! we would love to prove the gossip wrong.
3. my daughter and i love the outdoors so this is very much needed in our house
Would love to try these great looking products on my little ones, fingers crossed..
I would love to try this as we have a 1yr old blonde who is extremely fair and the 5yr old who is constantly outside
Would LOVE to trial these products. I keep my family safe by making sure we have time under the shade and in the sun. Drink alot of water and layer on the sun block
