Autumn plums and apples

Make the most of autumn fruit with this delicious dessert. Poach fresh plums and apples in your slow cooker and serve with vanilla ice cream or as a compote with yoghurt for breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 700g plums

    pips removed and cut in half

  • 2 granny smith apples

    peeled, cored and cut into quarters

  • ½ cup honey

  • 1 tsp cinnamon quill

    snapped in half

  • 2 tsp balsamic vinegar

  • 3 pieces lemon rind

  • 1 cup boiling water

Equipment

  • 1 slow cooker
  • 1 airtight container

Instructions

  1. Place plums and apples in your slow cooker then add remaining ingredients.
  2. Stir to mix well then turn cooker on to MEDIUM and leave for 3 hours.
  3. Remove from slow cooker and cool in an airtight container or use straight away.

Notes

Tip
My plums were quite large so I cut them in quarters.
Tip
I gave the fruit a quick stir about half way through the cooking time.

A handy and healthy snack to have in the fridge for all.
Storage
cool in an airtight container
