Fruit Christmas tree recipe
Ingredients
- 3 x 250g punnets strawberries
- 400g grapes
- 1 small rockmelon
- 1 large wedge seedless watermelon
- 1 bunch mint
You will also need:
- 25cm polystyrene cone
- star and circle cookie cutters
- toothpicks
Method
Step 1
Wash strawberries and grapes. Remove green stems and leaves from strawberries.
Step 2
Cut 1cm slices from the watermelon and rockmelon. Use cookie cutters to cut a variety of shapes from flesh.
Step 3
Place polystyrene cone on a small plate and, beginning at the bottom, insert toothpicks into the cone, and then stick pieces of fruit onto the toothpicks.
Step 4
Continue working upwards, placing fruit in an aesthetically pleasing way, using grapes to fill small spaces between the larger fruit pieces. Be careful to place fruit evening on all sides to prevent the cone from toppling over.
Step 5
Place a toothpick vertically in the top of the cone and place either a star or angel shaped piece of melon.
Step 6
Strew mint leaves around the base of the tree to cover the plate, tucking it up under the fruit.
