Baby affection

There are so many opinions on whether or not to cuddle a baby all the time or some of the time but there are not many people out there who really know what is best for you! Take some time to cuddle and caress your baby, especially in the earlier months.

Activity:

Take time out with your baby whether it be for comfort or just because you can and cuddle him. He will enjoy a cuddle, just as you will.

Cuddling your baby has many benefits, these include:

  • Forming a close bond
  • Emotionally calming
  • Feeling secure
  • Temperature regulation

Your baby will also benefit from kangaroo care style cuddles. This is where temperature regulation comes into play. Your body will rise slightly in temperature if your baby is too cool and fall slightly if he is too warm. For this method of cuddles, make sure there is skin to skin contact with either mum or dad and there is a blanket over you both to keep in the warmth. Kangaroo care is commonly initiated with premature babies and certainly carried into the early months of his life.

Care not what others say, follow your instincts and cuddle away.
