Magnetic chore chart idea

Magnetic chore chart idea

Getting kids to do chores is much easier when you devise a system. Chore charts and rewards charts are a great way to motivate kids to do housework. This magnetic chore chart idea is easy to make.

What you need:

  • 1 x cookie tray
  • gift wrap (enough to cover your tray)
  • 1 x magnet for chores (magnetic bulldog clips are ideal)
  • 1 x magnet for each child
  • 1 x FREE printable chores sheet
  • scissors
  • glue

Number of players:

Activity:

Cut a sheet of wrapping paper to cover the inside of your baking tray. Use a hot glue gun or strong craft glue to glue it in place.

Now decide which chores you want your children to do daily or weekly.

You can print out some chores cards here or make your own.

At the top of the tray make a label that says, "Weekly Chores".

Clip all the chore cards underneath the weekly chores label.

Now put a label with each child's name on it on the tray.

The idea is to rotate the chores weekly. So take the first chore of the pile, clip it to the first child's name. That is their chore for the week (or the day if you want them doing daily chores.)

Now take the next chore in the pile and clip it to the next child's name … and so on. Until everyone has been assigned a chore for the week.

When the week is up, put those chores at the back of the pile and distribute the chores that come up next to each child.
