Make a cut and fold biplane

Make a cut and fold biplane

You can make your own biplane with our FREE printable template. Just add scissors and glue to make an impressive paper plane.

What you need:

Optional extras:

  • 4 x matchsticks to use as wing struts

Number of players:
1

Activity:

Print out the biplane template.

Cut out all the pieces.

Starting with the main body of the plane, glue the tail fin in place before you glue the two halves of the body together.

Now fold the plane in half and glue ONLY the two main fuselage pieces together. Don't glue the wings, tail piece or front tabs.

Fold out the upper wings. Fold the tail piece out.

Now get the two lower wings, fold on the fold line and then glue each wing in place on the bottom of the plane's body.

For the propeller: at the nose of plane you will see two tabs, fold them out. You can now glue the propeller to these front tabs. Glue it at an angle to make the plane look more dynamic. You can trim off where the tabs show from behind the propeller profile if you like.

Optional:

Cut 4 matchsticks into 2.5cm pieces. Glue them in place to use as wing struts (see pic).
