Paper accordion snakes
These cute paper accordion snakes are an easy paper craft that will give little hands a great fine motor skills workout.
What you need:
- coloured construction paper
- scissors
- glue
- black marker pen
- 2 x googly craft eyes
Number of players:
Activity:
Choose two contrasting colours for each snake.
Cut each coloured sheet of paper into 3cm strips, lengthways.
Now glue or staple four strips (of the same colour) together, end to end to make one long strip.
Do the same with the other colour.
Place one strip on the table in front of you, vertically.
Now place the other horizontally and line up the ends of the strips, so they overlap in a square.
Glue the overlap together.
Now alternately fold one strip over the other (see video) to form the accordion.
Keep going until you have folded all the way to the end of both long strips.
Glue the last overlapping section together.
Stretch it out, you should have an accordion snake.
Now use one of the leftover scraps of paper to cut out a head shape for your snake and a small forked tongue.
Glue eyes in place and give your snake some nostrils.
Sssssssss!
