A story with granny
The award-winning book by New Zealand author Craig Smith was the story of choice for a granny reading to her little grandson in a Facebook video that has gone viral due to its giggle-inducing hilarity. The video posted by The Scottish Granny (who is residing in Australia) has had over 1.8 million views with viewers enjoying the granny’s genuine delight and laughter whilst trying to make her way through the story’s silly rhymes.

That is so cute. I love read aloud story time and I believe it teaches vocabulary and language for our kids. We are also in an audio books phase during bedtimes but definitely reading books to our kids is a must – it’s also good for them to hear our voices.
Scottish Granny is awesome! I love reading aloud to my boys, and to my 3yrs old friends at kindy. The enjoyment I get from watching the children’s faces as I read the stories is awesome. I sometimes add in actions or muddle things up to change things up a bit and the kids love that too. I think reading with your children is important – its a time where bonding is done

This is hilarious and the Scottish Granny’s laughter is contagious!! We have this book at home and it has a CD with it, my kids LOVE it! I think that they would enjoy the Scottish Granny reading it too!!
i loved the Scottish Granny her latest reading is soo funny and sweet as well. I had never heard the wonkey donkey story until i saw this video and because of it i am now on a mission to find it and buy it what a hilarious heart warming story….i love reading to my boys we will read just about anything together. I love that kids are curious and so into books and can create such a good foundation for when they head to school, my 2 older boys are total book worms and such a great way to relax.
I loved this video when I first saw it, such a hoot! This video has been a great advertisement for the Wonkey Donkey which is an absolute classic. I love reading books to my children, it brings joy to us all 🙂

Loved this and the video sure is one to have us all chuckling away. My daughter got this book when she was little from my stepmum who has now passed away. It’s definitely one she will forever treasure. It’s the best book of all time. Should see my children doing their dancing and singing to it on full boar 😂
Wow this is so so funny she had me laughing as well she was just soooo funny love it. This is such a good book all kids love it and some come with the CD of the music so you can sing along as well with the kids once you know the tune away you go!
Love it! Laughing is so good for you! I am always reading to our 5 year old daughter (although she can nearly read as well as me already!). I am always looking for funny/silly books at our library – like I Love Lemonade and Baa Baa Smart Sheep by Mark and Rowan Sommerset – soooo funny 🙂
Such a cool video. I like it when something goes viral because the person is having a great time, and sharing a fun or funny moment. Like the Chewbacca mask lady too. We have this book and it is so funny. I love reading aloud with my kids and especially books like this, that get us rolling around the bed in hysterics.
