Make a dog sock puppet
The best sock puppets are homemade and slightly eccentric. Don't go spending money on same-same craft supplies, just use an old sock to make your own one-of-a-kind dog puppet.
What you need:
- One brown or black sock
- Scraps of brown corduroy for the ears and eye-spot
- Craft glue
- 2 matching buttons (for eyes)
- Needle and thread
- Black button (nose)
- Small scrap of red fabric or felt for the tongue
Number of players:
Put the sock on your hand so that your thumb is in the heel and your fingers are in the toe.
Test out making the puppet talk and take note of where its eyes, tongue, nose and ears will be.
Cut a small circle out of the brown corduroy fabric to make an 'eye-spot' (the dark patch around the dog's eye).
Use the craft glue to glue the eye-spot in place.
Use the needle and thread to sew on two buttons for eyes, sewing one of them on top of the eye-spot.
Using the brown corduroy fabric, cut out two floppy ears.
Sew on the ears.
Using the red fabric, cut out a tongue and sew into place.
Sew the black button on for a nose.
Voila! You have made a dog sock puppet!
