Make an origami dress card

Make an origami dress card

Homemade cards are a win-win: fun craft activity for the kids and a personal message to someone you love. This origami dress idea makes a fun Mother's Day card.

What you need:

  • 1 x small square of origami paper (12cm x 12cm or 9cm x 9cm)
  • 1 x piece of A4 card
  • glue
  • marker pen

Number of players:

Activity:

You can make a card with one dress (using a 12cm square of origami paper) or with three dresses (using three 9cm squares.)

How to fold an origami dress:

Place the piece of paper blank side up.

Fold the square in half one way. Then in half the other way.  Open it out.

Fold the bottom edge up about 5mm to make an edge.

Now fold the right side at an angle towards the centre line.  And do the same with the left side, so you end up with a steep trapezium shape.

Fold each upper corner back.

Turn it over. Fold the top edge down to make a collar.

Turn it over and fold up the hem edge to hide the overlap at the front.

Now all you have to do is glue it to the front of your card.

You can make three small dresses and glue them to a piece of string to make a mock 'clothesline' on the front of your card.
