A baby boy for Toni Street

News personality and radio host Toni Street and partner Matt France have announced the arrival of their new baby boy, Lachlan Stephen France. Little ‘Lachie’ arrived a couple of weeks early on 9th August and was born via surrogacy, thanks to Toni’s friend Sophie Braggins.

Surrogacy “special and selfless”

Toni was unable to carry the baby herself due to Churg-Strauss syndrome. When news of the surrogacy was announced earlier in the year, Toni referred to her friend Sophie as “special and selfless” for volunteering. Toni told her The Hits co-hosts Sam Wallace and Sarah Gandy, “It was just like having both my other two children, it was this pure love moment.”

Lachlan is a baby brother to siblings Juliette and Mackenzie and is named after Toni’s late brother.

Have you every considered surrogacy, either as the mum-to-be or the surrogate?

It took a lot of bravery for me to face pregnancy for us. I’m not good with needles or medical stuff. So it’s unlikely I could ever donate eggs or be a surrogate. But I admire those who do. What a gift!

i absolutely love the idea of surrogacy and would given the chance in a heart beat, unfortunately i think i maybe too old now. But ive had such easy uncomplicated pregnancies that i always thought why wouldn’t I give someone else the chance to feel this love and joy if i can. It seems to be a relatively unspoken about topic here …i could be wrong as i live under a rock at times but anytime i sort of mentioned it to anyone people would often gasp and be quite put off by the suggestion of it…i dont know why? maybe there more to it i dont know . But what Tonis friend did for them is exactly like Toni said selflless and amazing …what an amazing inspiring woman she is…good on you Sophie

An amazing story to share with us. This is something that takes a special person to do for another person. The bond that it must create between the people involved must be huge. There are many situations where people want to start a family but they cannot and this sounds like such a lovely way of creating a family.

What a beautiful and selfless story of love and the gift of life. I think this lady is amazing!! I don’t know if I could do this myself but I take my hat off to any amazing lady who has done this or considered this amazing gift 🙂

Amazing really 🙂 big ups to the ladies who are surrogates for Mum’s that can’t carry their own children, very special indeed. I was lucky enough to be able to get pregnant and carry my own 2 children. It would be so difficult to give that little button up for me anyway, doubt that I could do it. Nice one Toni 🙂

I think this is amazing I talked about being a sarrogate to my husband but he wasn’t too happy about it. It takes a special person or couple to be involved in the process. As you carry the baby for 9 months it would be very hard to give the wee baby over after feeling the baby kick and your tummy grow. So I say if you can do this for people you are absolutely amazing.
