Broccoli, pea and pear puree

High in vitamin C and fibre, broccoli is a good green veg for older babies as it can cause a bit of gas.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 florets broccoli

  • ½ cup peas

  • 1 ripe pear

Equipment

  • 1 saucepan
  • 1 blender
  • 1 microwave-safe container

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan of boiling water, place the broccoli and peas and cook until soft.
  2. Peel and deseed pear and chop roughly.
  3. Strain vegetables and reserve a little water.
  4. Place vegetables and pear in a blender and puree until smooth, using a little of the reserved water for a better consistency.

Tip
This recipe was created by Belinda Graham for Kidspot.
Variation
Alternatively, you can cook the vegetables in the microwave. Wash the broccoli and place in a microwave-safe container with the peas. Cover with plastic wrap, leaving a corner uncovered to let steam escape, and cook on HIGH for 2 minutes. Rearrange and cook again for another minute if required.
Storage
Can be frozen for up to six weeks.
