Honey soy chicken skewers

These homemade honey soy chicken skewers couldn’t be simpler! Marinate meat in advance, thread on the chicken and they are cooked before the rice is done. They're kid-friendly and super-yummy!

Ingredients

  • 500g chicken breast fillets

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

    optional

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 1 skewers
  • 1 casserole dish
  • 1 microwave
  • 1 grill

Instructions

  1. If you are using wooden skewers, soak them in cold water for 30 minutes. Slice chicken into 2cm cubes.
  2. Combine sesame oil, soy sauce, and honey in a casserole dish. Microwave on high for 10-20 seconds to melt the honey.
  3. Stir the marinade well to combine, add the chicken cubes, and mix well to coat. Marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Thread the chicken onto the skewers, about 6 pieces per skewer.
  5. Heat your grill to high heat.
  6. Cook the chicken skewers for 3 minutes on each of the 4 sides, basting halfway through with some of the leftover marinade.
  7. Serve with rice and greens.

Tip
This recipe couldn’t be simpler. Marinade the meat in advance, thread it onto the skewers, and they are cooked before the rice is done.
Tip
We had some baby spinach wilting in the fridge so I sautéed it in a pan with a little bit of sesame oil and sesame seeds. It takes only a minute, try it!
