Tips for packed lunches

These are some great tips to ensure your lunchbox is safe, and time savers to take the hassle out of school lunches

Ingredients

  • 1 Insulated lunch box or carry bag

    Essential for temperature control

  • 1 Frozen ice brick or frozen drink bottle

    Keeps the environment cool

  • as needed Sandwiches

    Can be frozen the night before

  • as needed Cooked foods (e.g. boiled eggs)

    Must be chilled before packing

Equipment

  • 1 Insulated lunch box
  • 1 Ice brick
  • 1 Refrigerator
  • 1 Freezer

Instructions

  1. Use an insulated lunch box or carry bag to transport food.
  2. Place a frozen ice brick or a frozen drink bottle inside the lunch box to keep items cold.
  3. Prepare and freeze sandwiches the night before to save time and help keep other foods cool.
  4. Chill any cooked foods, such as boiled eggs, completely before packing them.
  5. Store the packed lunch boxes in a cool spot or in the fridge if possible until it is time to leave.
  6. Ensure children wash their hands thoroughly before eating and after handling pets or using the toilet.
