Bircher muesli
Ingredients
- 500g natural muesli
- 2 green apples, peeled and grated
- 2 pears, peeled and grated
- 1 cup (125g) sultanas
- 1 cup (125g) raisins
- 1/2 cup (50g) flaked almonds
- 1/2 cup (50g) walnuts
- 1 cup (100g) macadamias
- 1L milk
- 300ml cream, whipped
Method
Combine all of the ingredients.
Refrigerate overnight.
Serve topped with your favourite fresh fruit.
Notes
- This is the most decadent breakfast dish.
- It has dairy, grains, nuts, dried fruit and fresh fruit.
- Muesli was introduced around 1900 by the Swiss physician Maximilian Bircher-Benner for patients in his hospital, where a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables was an essential part of therapy.
