Aotea Square Arcade

Dancing, retro games and more!

Bring the whole family down to Aotea Square and get your game faces on! Play old school arcade games and locally made indie video games on our larger-than-life outdoor Digital Stage.

Plus, we’re bringing back the ever-popular Dance-O-Mat! Choose your favourite song, crank up the music and cut loose to the beat on this free, outdoor dance floor.

Bring a giant puppet to life!

A giant illuminated puppet is waiting to come to life, with your help. Work together to animate this enchanting spectacle, taking turns to pull the strings and enliven the majestic handwoven creature.

Duration: 15 min sessions
Age recommendation: All-ages, participation 10+

The Lost Letter Office

The Adventure is in the Post!
A young girl writes a magical letter to brighten the day of an elderly neighbour. But when the letter’s adventurous journey makes its address unreadable; it gets sent to The Lost Letter Office. Can the bumbling sleuths who work there help the letter on its way? Or will it be enveloped in their snail-mail chaos forever?

The Glitter Garden

20 to 21 June 2020 at Wintergarden, The Civic

A drag show for kids, blooming with fun!
Discover The Glitter Garden inside The Civic, and meet wacky residents Skipper the snail and Honey the bee. This will be an utterly unique and wondrous drag show for the whole family.
Come on down, make some new friends and experience the magical garden growing!

Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox

4 to 12 July 2020 at the Bruce Mason Centre

Chase your tail all the way to the theatre!
No one outfoxes a fox, especially not the horrible and

greedy farmers. When Mr Fox needs to save his family and friends, he’ll go to any length to outwit the mean humans.

Join Mr Fox and his team of furry friends as they bounce, burrow and bewilder their way to safety.

DAEDALUM Luminarium

Step inside a fantastical world of colour and light.
The October school holidays celebrate the arrival of Spring, inviting you to adventure through a giant

inflatable, rainbow-coloured labyrinth and discover a mysterious new world of wonder.

The baby whisperers return!
A playful, gentle performance exclusively for babies and their grown-ups. You and your baby will be entranced by this magical interweaving of theatre, play and live music. After a sell-out Auckland season in 2019, you don’t want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

    If only Christchurch had the same… what a cool lineup… i would so travel there to use these opportunities over the holidays…if i could afford it… good on auckland for putting on these activities…

    Wow they sound great! Wish we had some more choices down here for this type of thing 🙂 My 7 year old would love them! Would love to see the DAEDALUM Luminarium 🙂

    These look absolutely amazingly cool shows. I think I would love to see Ronald Dahl’s fantastic mr fox show. I always loved Ronald Dahl is a child. His stories were always absolutely amazing to read and his movies were great also.

      These sound great especially for the younger ones. Not really any of my boys or I thing to be honest but great idea to entertain the kids none the less.
