Apple and sour cream slice

This delicious slice is super quick and tasty and will look like you have been in the kitchen for hours

Ingredients

  • 1 vanilla cake mix

  • 1 cup desiccated coconut

  • 3 tbsp melted butter

    heaped

  • 1 pie apples

  • 200g sour cream

  • 1 egg

Equipment

  • 1 square cake tin

Instructions

  1. Combine cake mix with coconut and melted butter. The mixture appears a little dry, but don’t worry it’s meant to be like this.
  2. Press into a square cake tin and bake for around 10 minutes in a moderate oven.
  3. Place the pie apples on top of the cake base whilst still warm.
  4. Combine sour cream with a beaten egg and spread on top.
  5. Dust with cinnamon or coconut, whichever you prefer (cinnamon is best for presentation).
  6. Return to oven and bake for around 20 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool (the sour cream topping will set), refrigerate and slice into smallish pieces as it is quite a rich slice.
