Ingredients

4 thick bread slices (ciabatta, Turkish or sourdough)
toasted
400g extra lean pork mince
1 garlic clove
1 tsp ground sage
2 tsp fresh thyme leaves
1 egg
lightly beaten
1 cup breadcrumbs

2 tsp olive oil
(10ml)
1 large onion
(160g), peeled and finely sliced
1 pinch salt
2 apples
(360g), peeled and finely sliced
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
(40ml)
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
2 tsp fresh thyme leaves
Equipment
- 1 non-stick frying pan
Instructions
- Mix all burger patty ingredients together and form into 4 burger patties. Set aside.
- To make the Sweet Onion and Apple Sauce: Heat oil in a non-stick frying pan and add onion with a pinch of salt.
- Cook on low for 5 minutes before adding apple, cinnamon, sugar, cider vinegar, pepper and thyme.
- Stir, cover and continue to cook for 6-8 minutes until soft and fragrant and the apples are cooked through.
- Heat a non-stick frying pan on medium, spray lightly with oil and add burger patties.
- Cook for 4 minutes per side until cooked through.
- Rest patties on a board for 5 minutes before serving on toast topped with apple sauce.
