Prawn cocktail

These prawns are easy to prepare, simple, stylish, and great Christmas entrée. A fast, easy alternative to the traditional prawn cocktail the family will love - and the avocado dressing really kicks off its flavour.

Ingredients

  • 12 cooked king prawns

    peeled and deveined

  • ¼ cup tomato sauce

  • ¼ cup pouring cream

  • 1 big squeeze lemon juice

  • salt and pepper

    to taste

  • tabasco sauce

    optional

Equipment

  • 1 bowl
  • 1 serving dish
  • 1 serving plate

Instructions

  1. To create the cocktail sauce, mix together in a bowl the cream, tomato sauce, lemon juice, and Tabasco. Taste and season accordingly.
  2. Pour sauce into a serving dish.
  3. On a serving plate, arrange the cocktail sauce, the peeled prawns and a couple of slices of lemon.
  4. Serve immediately.

Notes

Tip
Prawn cocktails may be incredibly out of fashion but they are a considered a classic for a very good reason – with good fresh prawns, the combination of the sweet meat with the tangy cocktail sauce can’t be beaten!
Variation
You could make this more of a meal – and more fancy – by adding a salad of diced avocado and tomato. And chopped iceberg lettuce never goes astray either!
