Scones

Scones are a great stand by they can be sweet or savoury and everyone loves them

Ingredients

  • 3 cups SR Flour

    Self-rising

  • 1 pinch Salt

  • ½ cup Cream

  • 1 cup Milk

  • 1 Oven
  • 1 Baking tray
  • 1 Sifter
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Rolling pin
  • 1 5cm cutter

Instructions

  1. PREHEAT the oven to 260°C and grease a baking tray.
  2. SIFT the flour and salt then add the cream and the milk into the centre. STIR with a knife to form a soft dough.
  3. TURN out onto a floured board. KNEAD lightly. ROLL to about 1.2cm in thickness & using a 5cm cutter, cut out the scones.
  4. PLACE on a tray and turn the oven back to 250°C before putting the scones in to bake. BAKE for about 10 minutes.
  5. When baked, brush tops with melted butter to enhance their appearance.

Serve hot or cold with whipped cream & your favourite jam.
